About

Female drivers for female riders.

DriveHer is New Zealand-owned and operated. Our unique ridesharing service employs female drivers only, giving women and children the peace of mind of knowing they’ll be delivered safely to their destination by a DriveHer driver. We strongly believe that a safer society is a responsibility shared by everyone, regardless of gender.

While our company was created to provide safe, comfortable rides for females, we don’t exclude men from using our service. We simply require that they travel with a female rider.

We believe:

Women have the right to feel safe, wherever they’re going, whatever the time.

Parents should have the choice of booking a female driver to transport their children.

Partners should be able to book a female driver if it makes their wife, girlfriend or female partner feel more comfortable.

We encourage everyone, regardless of gender, to sign up for a rider account. Anyone can book a DriveHer driver but only females can use the service by themselves.

Peace of mind on every journey

How DriveHer works

Anyone can sign up for a rider account, but men may only ride with DriveHer when they’re travelling with a female rider.

When booking a ride, the DriveHer app asks if riders are all female, kids up to age 14 or a mixed gender group.

Female riders can sit up front if they wish, while the boys relax in the back.

Men can book rides for themselves when they’re travelling with a female. They can also book riders for their loved ones with the security of being able to track their journey every step of the way.

Why Choose DriveHer?

Riders

Now, for the first time in this country, you have the freedom to choose who drives you – the freedom of feeling safe. The value of this cannot be understated.

More likely than not, you or someone you know has been asked one too many personal questions, been the subject of unwanted inappropriate remarks or advances, or felt otherwise uncomfortable using ridesharing or taxi services.

Drivers

The same is true for female drivers. We believe women have the right to a safe work environment without risk of harassment. This is often not the reality for women drivers in the traditional taxi and ridesharing industry.

Riders

Can my Children take a DriveHer?

Our female drivers are the perfect option for transporting your children. You can book a ride for your child through the app.

Children of any gender up to age 14 may travel unaccompanied.

How is my trip calculated?

Your trip is calculated by the base fare + (cost per minute × duration of journey) + (cost per km × journey distance). We don’t use surge pricing! Instead, the base fare, cost per minute and cost per kilometre changes slightly in peak periods to keep drivers on the road when you need them.

How does payment work?

DriveHer is linked with PayPal giving you the option to use either your credit card or PayPal balance. The trip fare is automatically deducted using your chosen payment method at the end of your ride. No cash needed.

I had a great experience with a driver. Can I book her again?

Yes, for scheduled journeys, as soon as this service extension launches. DriveHer is unique in that our system will allow you to pick from a list of your favourite drivers when you schedule a future ride, and notify you if they are available.

Can I book a ride in advance?

Yes – soon. We are rolling out a ride scheduling service and will notify you as soon as it becomes available.
